Professional Experience

Before and between trainings as a psychotherapist I supported adults with addictions and enduring mental illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar and personality disorders, and in a psychodynamically oriented therapeutic community.

I have worked as a registered psychotherapist in the NHS, in the private sector, and have run my own private practice working with adults since 2013. I have experience in a private outpatient clinic, NHS community mental health teams, NHS psychiatric inpatient units, a hospice and with children in schools.

I have specialist experience with eating disorders and worked in a London NHS inpatient eating disorder unit, a private London outpatient clinic as well as ongoing work with adults with eating disorders in my private practice.

I frequently work with adults who have a history of eating disorders and who no longer necessarily fit the criteria for eating disorder diagnosis, but still experience ‘food noise’, distress around body image, control, self-esteem and relationships.

A bit about me

Growing up in a family affected by intergenerational trauma and loss sowed the seed for my lifelong journey as a therapist. I was a compliant child and a rebellious teenager. Finding my way in life has been a long and convoluted journey. I know from experience that change and healing is possible, but not always comfortable. I’ve made mistakes, taken wrong turns and been on the receiving end of unhelpful therapy, as well as transformational therapy. I bring that wealth of experience and compassion to my work.

Growing up I felt a disconnect between how I felt inside, and the world around me. I did not have words for this, but could express some of it visually in art. This led me to attend art school, followed by a degree in jewellery design and silversmithing. Then I discovered the field of art psychotherapy which gave me a deeper framework to make sense of the world and a solid foundation in psychotherapy. That was a turning point for me and the beginning of continued learning.

I live with my long term, Australian partner and our nine year old daughter in South East London. I practice yoga, Feldenkrais classes and cold water therapy to stay grounded.
